Cabinet painting for homes in Ames Lake, Washington

Cabinet painting suits homeowners who like their cabinet layout but want a cleaner, updated finish. The work focuses on doors, drawer fronts, exposed frames, and other paintable surfaces.

The key decision is surface condition. We check old coating, grease, chips, loose edges, and door alignment before we set the work scope. Cabinet painting won't correct damaged boxes, failed hinges, or a layout that no longer fits the room.

Ames Lake is part of our broader Eastside service area, which also includes Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Mercer Island, and Issaquah. HomeRemodelBellevue.com manages the work from planning and material selection through construction and final finishing.

  • Check whether doors, drawer fronts, and frames have sound surfaces.
  • Identify grease, loose finish, chips, and worn edges.
  • Confirm which exposed cabinet parts will receive paint.
  • Discuss color, sheen, hardware, and nearby finish details.

What a refreshed cabinet finish changes

A new finish can update a kitchen without changing its cabinet layout.

Prepared surfaces give primer and paint a sound base for daily use.

Painted doors can bring older wood tones and worn finishes into a more consistent look.

A defined cabinet scope helps you compare painting with replacement before choosing.

The work can coordinate with flooring, wall paint, counters, and other interior upgrades.

What to weigh before choosing cabinet painting

Surface prep decides the finish

Grease, loose coating, and slick surfaces need attention before primer. We are licensed and insured construction professionals, and we explain the prep plan before work starts.

Painting keeps the existing layout

This service fits a sound cabinet layout that needs a new finish. It is the wrong job when boxes are badly damaged or the room needs a different storage plan.

One team can manage related work

Our full-service project management covers planning through final details. Cabinet painting can sit within a larger kitchen remodel when flooring, lighting, or other interior upgrades are also planned.

After experiencing water damage in our home, we needed to replace all our flooring, some kitchen cabinets, and redo our primary bath. Linda and her team truly saved the day after a disappointing experience with another contractor. She worked closely with us to choose the perfect tiles for our bathroom and find flooring that suited our home. Her contractors did exceptional work, from leveling the floors to installation and cabinet remaking, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Linda answered all our questions along the way, and we cannot speak highly enough of the work she and her team performed!

Overall I enjoyed working with Linda and her team. Even though there were no major redesign of spaces and I knew exactly what tile/fixtures/cabinets etc I wanted I still was appreciative of her insight on certain details and choices. It was very easy to collaborate with her. She makes an effort to be in-tune with a client. She was very responsive and took care of everything that needed attention as soon as she was able too. She made sure that I was listened to and taken care of as a client with her subcontractors. I would work with her again.

Linda and her team did an excellent job! We would highly recommend them. We hired her for a kitchen remodel and asked for a very tight timeline. She delivered and we absolutely love the result. She was very commutative and available to us. Thank you Design and Build NW!

Questions homeowners ask about cabinet painting

What preparation improves cabinet paint adhesion for Cabinet Painting?

Sanding improves cabinet paint adhesion after grease and residue are removed. We inspect the old coating, clean the surface, reduce unwanted gloss, and apply primer before paint. Doors, drawer fronts, and frames may need different prep based on their condition. This step matters because paint cannot bond well to loose finish or cooking film.

How does cabinet painting start on site?

The first step is a condition check of the doors, frames, drawer fronts, and existing finish. We note grease, chips, loose coating, and areas around hardware. The work plan then identifies which pieces need removal, cleaning, prep, primer, and paint. You receive a defined scope before the project moves into production.

Which cabinet parts should be included in the quote?

The quote should identify doors, drawer fronts, exposed frames, panels, edges, and any related trim. Hardware removal or replacement should also be discussed when it affects access. Our team reviews the visible parts with you and separates cabinet painting from other kitchen remodeling work. That detail helps prevent confusion about what receives paint.

When should I request a cabinet painting estimate?

Request an estimate when the cabinet layout still works and the finish needs an update. A room plan should be reviewed first if you also want new counters, flooring, lighting, or plumbing. We can place cabinet painting inside a larger remodeling plan, so the work sequence and protected surfaces are clear.

Why can paint fail on kitchen cabinet doors?

Paint can fail when grease, loose coating, dust, or a slick surface remains under the finish. We check the door faces, edges, corners, and areas near pulls before selecting the prep steps. Primer follows the cleaned and prepared surface. Damaged cabinet parts may need repair or replacement instead of paint alone.

How do I compare painting with cabinet replacement?

Cabinet painting suits sound boxes and a layout you want to keep. Replacement makes more sense when storage, cabinet size, or box condition needs to change. We review the doors, frames, hinges, and room goals before outlining the options. That assessment helps you compare a finish update with a larger kitchen remodel.
